AYN has confirmed several specifications for the AYN Odin 3 Portal today. They released a new promotional video that answers some of the questions raised by last week’s announcement.
The Dragonwing Q8 is the same Snapdragon 8 Elite-class processor used in the standard Odin 3.
The 9,000mAh battery is a 12.5% capacity increase over the Odin 2 Portal’s 8,000mAh battery. The new handheld will a little bit more heft as it is approximately 20 grams heavier than its predecessor. Start working out now!
What was not confirmed today is pricing, preorder dates, shipping availability, RAM configurations, storage options, or complete display specifications. A 7-inch OLED remains expected but is not yet officially specified.
AYN appears to be following the same formula that made the Odin 2 Portal appealing by taking the processing power of its smaller flagship handheld and put it into a larger device. Is bigger always better?
However, the bigger battery, full-size Hall Effect sticks, and updated controls suggest this isn’t simply an Odin 3 with a larger display.
