Part and parcel of this handheld journey has been a deeper appreciation, and dare I say, a slight addiction to shoot’em ups. Big or small, I like’em all. Shmups, bullet hells, bullet heavens, I’m not picky.
I’ll admit I’m not great at them, but the zone these games transport me to is worth the grind. These games are a sensory overload for me. The bright colors, things are popping off left and right, and it’s all I can do to stay focused, chasing that elusive 1CC. The day hasn’t come yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m slowing down any time soon.
There I was one night minding my own business while scrolling Reddit before bedtime, as one does, and there was just a simple post announcing the launch of Shmup Index, a treasure trove of shoot’em goodness. I’ve just scratched the surface on this site, but it’s so good that I wanted to share it with others, which is one of the tenets of my own site.
